What speeds can I expect from my 5G?

MTN Fixed 5G can reach maximum speeds of up to 500Mbps. However, maximum speeds cannot be guaranteed as several factors affect speed and quality of the connection which include, but are not limited to distance, weather, and interference around and within the property.

The device used plays an important role in the speed experience. We recommend using a CAT6 router for optimal speeds.

How many wireless devices can I connect to my 5G router?

To get the best of your 5G experience, we recommend connecting up to 30 wireless devices on the router supplied by Axxess.

Do I need to change my APN settings?

If you order the 5G Router and SIM, we will preconfigure the 5G device that is shipped with your MTN 5G SIM – so you will not need to change any APN settings. If you order the SIM only, then you’ll need to change your APN settings.

 

Do I need to RICA my SIM card?

Yes. You will need to have your original barcoded Identity Document, as well as a valid proof of residence. You will also be required to have a copy of your ID and proof of residence available when your SIM is delivered, and you (the account holder) must sign for it in person.

 

Can I use this service on the go or only at certain locations?

The 5G service is designed to be used for your home or business, and MTN will lock the service to the address for where you place an order to use the service.
